Why the blade decides
A blade that costs twice as much and lasts three times as long is cheaper per cut, and it stops your machine half as often. That second part is the one unit price never shows you.

More cobalt in the tooth tip, so it holds an edge at the temperatures stainless and tool steel generate. For large sections and beams where the blade is in the cut a long time and heat has nowhere to go.
Carbide balls welded on and ground into teeth, for low-vibration cuts and a surface that may not need finishing. Grit blades for abrasives and composites. Expensive per blade, and frequently the lowest cost per cut on hard material.

Break-in
Arntz recommend running a new blade in before working it hard. Skip it and the tooth edges chip in the first cuts — the blade is then damaged for the whole of its life and nobody ever knows why it wore out early. We will tell you the run-in for your machine and material when we supply the blade. It costs nothing and it is the single most common reason a blade underperforms.

Blade dimensions are set by the machine, not chosen. Tell us the make and model — including machines we did not sell you — and we will hold the correct length, width and gauge so a blade change is a phone call rather than a search.
